CMS EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR BUNDLED PAYMENT MODEL 1 LETTERS OF INTENT
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has extended the deadlines for payment Model 1 under its Bundled Payment for Care Improvement Initiative to Oct.6 for non-binding letters of intent and Nov. 18 for applications. The prior deadlines were Sept. 22 and Oct. 21, respectively. This Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation initiative offers applicants four approaches to bundled payments. Model 1 includes only inpatient hospitalization services for all Medicare severity diagnosis-related groups; Medicare will pay participants traditional fee-for-service payment rates, less a negotiated discount. The deadlines for bundled payment Models 2, 3 and 4 remains Nov. 4 for letters of intent and March 15 for applications.
